CAHIERS D’ART ANNOUNCES SECOND EDITION OF LEGENDARY ART REVUE FEATURING ROSEMARIE TROCKEL

CAHIERS D'ART

Cahiers d’Art, known for its high quality art publications and publisher of the Zervos Picasso Catalogue, announce the new release of their internationally celebrated art revue. The second issue focuses predominately on Rosemarie Trockel, who’s work, Clock Owner, 2013, also graces the cover of this edition. Concurrently, Cahiers d’Art is pleased to present a special exhibition of Trockel’s work at their gallery space in Paris on view from March 28 -May 17, 2014.

The exhibition will feature fifteen mixed media works, including pieces made from stretched black yarn. In these black monochrome works, the yarn material is placed like a stroke of the brush on the canvas. Her deep engagement with the material and her unique use of wool has allowed her to use the material in unconventional ways. A similar approach is evident in some of the other works in this exhibition, where she combines ceramic-like materials, such as Acrystal with Plexiglass and crystal pieces. In these sculptures, Trockel combines casts of meat with digital prints and crystal to dislodge the materials from their usual meanings. In addition, the exhibition features a series of prints and collages using the theme of threads and lines referencing fragments of the human body. Works from the same series have recently been on view at Sprüth Magers London and Gladstone Gallery.

In addition to Trockel, the second edition also features the work of Riccardo Paratore, Inge Mahn, Absalon, Le Corbusier and Peter Fischli and David Weiss. In the tradition of outstanding contributors to Cahiers d’Art—the second issue of the art journal includes articles and interviews by several world-renowned writers, curators, and art historians, such as Hans Ulrich Obrist, Brigid Doherty, Joan Simon, Jean Louis Cohen, and poems by Rolf Dieter Brinkmann.
