CY TWOMBLY

CENTRE POMPIDOU

" Cy Twombly lived on both sides of the Atlantic and particularly on the shores of the Mediterranean. These multiple and historic influences gave this american and european artist the special gift of constantly regeranating his art in the most creative way until the end of his life. »

Nicola Del Roscio, « Some notes on Cy Twombly », dans Cy Twombly: Catalogue Raisonné of Drawings, vol. IV, 1964-1969, 2014.

The Centre Pompidou and the Cy Twombly Foundation are very pleased to invite you to discover Cy Twombly retrospective this fall. This major monograph dedicated to one of the greatest masters of contemporary art presents for the first time in France the most important set of works ever shown together. A unique opportunity, this exhibition will only be presented in Paris.

A singular and unclassifiable artist, Cy Twombly is an iconic figure in the art history of the XXth century. A literary man with a lyrical genius for expressing his passion for mythology and historical influences. A purified and simple expression with a symphony of mysterious signs.

Paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs… 140 rare works, with some exceptional loans presented for the first time in France, are revealed this fall at the Centre Pompidou.
