CREATE UNDER LOUIS XIV : THE MANUFACTURES OF THE CROWN UNDER COLBERT AND LEBRUN.

MOBILIER NATIONAL, PARIS

In 2019, France celebrates the fourth centenary of birth of two major actors of its political, economic and artistic History: Jean-Baptiste Colbert (1619- 1683), and Charles Le Brun (1619-1690). Jean-Baptise Colbert was minister for more than twenty years during the reign of Louis XIV (1661-1683) ; and Charles Le Brun was the first painter of the King.

Through this exhibition, the Mobilier National tells the story of the creation and the development of manufactures to create objects of exceptional quality for decorating the royal houses, the glory of the « Roi Soleil » and the publicity of the French savoir-faire.
