BOLLYWOOD SUPERSTARS

MUSÉE DU QUAI BRANLY - JACQUES CHIRAC

With over 1,500 films a year exported to every continent, India is now the world's leading film producer. The Bollywood Superstars exhibition traces over a century of Indian cinema, from its mythological and artistic roots to the icons of the contemporary "star system". An immersive scenography takes visitors into the dance scenes and palaces of historic films, proposing a constant dialogue between heritage objects and cinema. More than 200 works - paintings, shadow figures, costumes, photographs - illustrate the folk arts, stories and artistic influences that gave rise to the dazzling, infinite universe of Indian cinema.
