MARSEILLE-PROVENCE 2013 : AUGUST IN DANSE

MARSEILLE

Over the last few years, talented artists have flourished in the Mediterranean, especially in the field of dance. Interaction between artists from northern and southern Mediterranean countries is extremely fruitful. While it is difficult to speak in general terms of “Mediterranean dance”, there is a uniquely Mediterranean art of gestures, as noted by Virgilio Sieni.

Consequently, as voices for freedom make themselves heard, the body itself undergoes a revolution. This bodily message is part of a shared way of living together in which Marseille has always played a key role. Between 24 and 31 August, more than ten cultural organisations from Marseille join forces with Marseille-Provence 2013 to host over twenty performances, half of which come from Egypt, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey. Events also include a ball, amateur workshops and more. Every day, visitors will be able to see se veral performances as part of €10 trails. Why not spend the end of August in Marseille?
