PRINTEMPS DE SEPTEMBRE À TOULOUSE TOULOUSE, FRANCE |
![]() |
For several years now, performance has once more become a widely adopted medium. The goal of the 2010 Printemps de Septembre festival is to analyze this revival: what are the new arenas of performance, and what are the links between them? Where do its new challenges lie? How have artists of our day and age appropriated its essentials? How does it stand up to the limitations of exhibitions and cultural events? These questions are all the more important because France has not seen any major exhibitions on the subject since 1994. Photographs, videos, objects, installations, sound pieces, and different documents will all be stressing the ‘live’ factor; over and above the initial gesture, it is the form displayed that will be the main object of study. 6TH NUIT EUROPÉENNE DES MUSÉES (EUROPEAN NIGHT OF MUSEUMS) |
![]() |
The 6th European Night of Museums will take place on Saturday 15 May 2010. This event, created in 2005 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, is the chance for French and European museums to unite every audience for an exceptional nocturnal event, and allow the largest number of people to discover their museums and their collections in a novel way and free of charge. Each year the event attracts a larger audience and includes an ever growing number of museums, and equally more and more participating countries, thus contributing to the construction of a cultural Europe. La Nuit européenne des musées is organised by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the « direction générale des patrimoines » / the « services des musées de France (SMF) » and the regional directions of cultural affairs (DRAC) with the cooperation of the Réunion des musées nationaux (RMN). It benefits from the support of Neuflize OBC and Neuflize Vie. This event will be placed, as with the previous editions, under the high patronage of the Secrétaire Général du Conseil de l’Europe, of UNESCO, and will benefit once again from the connection with the « Journée internationale des musées » (International Museums Day) of the ICOM (Conseil international des musées), thus confirming the european and international dimension of this event. The Frac Aquitaine and the Bordeaux musée des beaux-arts cross their views of their collections to mark the acquisition of new works by the Frac Aquitaine in 2009. They propose to shed new light on a selection of their works: old works viewed in the light of the present, and contemporary works seen as a reflection of the past. The complete collection of Frac Aquitaine’s 17 new acquisitions will be presented for the first time in contrast with 19 works from the musée des beaux-arts collection from different schools (French, Flemish, Italian, English) and different periods (from the 17th to the 20th century).
