The Maison Jean Cocteau is an important expression of the artist’s tastes and private life, now offering the public, after five years of preparation, a perfect reconstitution of the bedroom, office, and main sitting room, which notably contains a masterly canvas by Christian Bérard. The renovations, led by architect François Magendie and the team of Dominique Païni-Nathalie Crinière (who organised the Jean Cocteau exhibit at the Centre Pompidou in 2003), also allow for the display of a selection of drawings from the Cocteau estate, which includes, in addition to the best of Cocteau, works by Picasso, Warhol, Modigliani, Buffet, Blanche, Man Ray...

6TH NUIT EUROPÉENNE DES MUSÉES (EUROPEAN NIGHT OF MUSEUMS) |

The 6th European Night of Museums will take place on Saturday 15 May 2010. This event, created in 2005 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, is the chance for French and European museums to unite every audience for an exceptional nocturnal event, and allow the largest number of people to discover their museums and their collections in a novel way and free of charge. Each year the event attracts a larger audience and includes an ever growing number of museums, and equally more and more participating countries, thus contributing to the construction of a cultural Europe. La Nuit européenne des musées is organised by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the « direction générale des patrimoines » / the « services des musées de France (SMF) » and the regional directions of cultural affairs (DRAC) with the cooperation of the Réunion des musées nationaux (RMN). It benefits from the support of Neuflize OBC and Neuflize Vie. This event will be placed, as with the previous editions, under the high patronage of the Secrétaire Général du Conseil de l’Europe, of UNESCO, and will benefit once again from the connection with the « Journée internationale des musées » (International Museums Day) of the ICOM (Conseil international des musées), thus confirming the european and international dimension of this event.
