9 OCTOBER - 31 DECEMBER 2010
ABC - CONTEMPORARY ART FROM BELGIUM

LE FRESNOY - STUDIO NATIONAL DES ARTS CONTEMPORAINS

Proximity and evidence make us blind: France is unaware of the inventiveness, the diversity and the current creative agitation of some of our closest neighbours. ABC is an exhibition that does not claim to be a comprehensive portrayal of the diversity of the contemporary scene in Belgium. The disciplines most particularly taught and practiced at Le Fresnoy have formed the criteria of priority for selection purposes: photography, film, video, installation, performance and choreography..

About forty artists will be shown like : Stephan BALLEUX, Orla BARRY, Pierre BISMUTH, Jef CORNELIS, Wim DELVOYE, Jan FABRE, Johan GRIMONPREZ, Anne Veronica JANSSENS, Gwendoline ROBIN, Sophie WHETTNALL…

RUBENS, POUSSIN AND 17TH CENTURY ARTISTS

MUSEE JACQUEMART-ANDRE

This exhibition assembles around sixty paintings from some of the best private and public collections in Europe (Art museums in Lille, Nantes, Rennes, Oxford, Liège, and more). It offers a unique view of two great artistic movements of the 17th century: Flemish Baroque painting, of which Rubens is the chief protagonist, and the French Classical school led by Poussin and the influence they had on each other. The Jacquemart-André Museum has set out to write a new page in the history of art.

OUVERTURE DE LA MAISON JEAN COCTEAU
MILLY-LA-FORÊT (FRANCE)

The Maison Jean Cocteau is an important expression of the artist’s tastes and private life, now offering the public, after five years of preparation, a perfect reconstitution of the bedroom, office, and main sitting room, which notably contains a masterly canvas by Christian Bérard. The renovations, led by architect François Magendie and the team of Dominique Païni-Nathalie Crinière (who organised the Jean Cocteau exhibit at the Centre Pompidou in 2003), also allow for the display of a selection of drawings from the Cocteau estate, which includes, in addition to the best of Cocteau, works by Picasso, Warhol, Modigliani, Buffet, Blanche, Man Ray...

MUSÉE DES BEAUX-ARTS DE BORDEAUX

The Frac Aquitaine and the Bordeaux musée des beaux-arts cross their views of their collections to mark the acquisition of new works by the Frac Aquitaine in 2009.
