LES MUSES INSOUMISES. DELPHINE SEYRIG, ENTRE CINÉMA ET VIDÉO FÉMINISTE.

LAM - VILLENEUVE D'ASQ

This summer, in coproduction with the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid and in collaboration with the Simone de Beauvoir Audio Visual Centre in Paris, the Museum is mounting an exhibition on the actress, videographer and feminist Delphine Seyrig (1932-1990).

Well-known for her film roles, above all in movies by Chantal Akerman, Alain Resnais and Marguerite Duras, Delphine Seyrig’s commitments were as much political as they were artistic, and her career was of major importance in the history of cinema, video and feminism alike.

The many activities she engaged in from the 1960s to the 1980s, in particular in the context of the “Les Insoumuses” collective with Carole Roussopoulos and Ioana Wieder, focused on questions that occupy French society, such as the right to abortion and gender equality.

Questions which are just as relevant today as they were then.
