The antithesis of the usual practices and codes of visit in museums, Please touch ! invites you to live an astonishing and sensory experience of sculpture. Blindfolded, with an audioguide or in pairs with a friend or a mediator, touch, feel, manipulate or smell the stone, the wet earth and the cast iron thanks to an olfactory device allowing an immersion in the heart of the works.
Initiated by the Fabre Museum in Montpellier, this new collective and travelling exhibition presents reproductions of works from six Fine Arts museums (Montpellier, Lyon, Nantes, Lille, Rouen and Bordeaux). Please touch! offers a sensitive discovery of the human figure as well as the techniques and materials of sculpture from Antiquity to 20th century abstraction.
The exhibition is the result of cooperation with visually impaired people and draws on their experience to invent new forms of mediation for all audiences, sighted and visually impaired alike, and to offer a unique tactile experience as part of an inclusive and humanistic approach.
