The Bordeaux Museum of Fine Arts invites visitors to rediscover a leading figure of the Art Deco movement in a unique retrospective: that of Bordeaux artist Jean Dupas (1882-1964), whose fame spread from France to the United States in the 1920s and 1930s.
Through a rich selection of paintings, sculptures, posters, and decorative arts, the MusBA will take visitors on a journey through the highlights of his career: from international exhibitions to large-scale public decorations and luxurious transatlantic liners.
Alongside Jean Dupas, artists from his circle will also be featured, such as Jean Despujols, René Buthaud, Raphaël Delorme, and Alfred Janniot, whose exchanges testify to the artistic vitality of Bordeaux and France between the wars, and its influence on the international scene.
