The Rencontres d'Arles are held in various locations throughout the city, ranging from heritage sites – chapels, a 12th-century cloister, 19th-century industrial buildings – to contemporary and even unexpected venues (such as the Monoprix department store, whose façade is listed as a 20th-century heritage site).
For more than 50 years, the great names in photography have participated in the Rencontres d'Arles, a veritable breeding ground for new talent. Anticipating shifts in the photographic medium and the evolution of new technologies, questioning the state of the world with artists, and offering all audiences the opportunity to experience the image: these are the ambitions of the Rencontres.
This 57th edition of the festival will take place from 6 July to 4 October 2026, with an opening week from Monday 6 to Sunday 12 July.
