UCCASTORE AT ART ASIA MIAMI

The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) and UCCASTORE in Beijing bring some of the finest Chinese contemporary art to 2010 ART ASIA Miami with a range of limited edition artworks from some of the biggest names in Chinese art, including a special first preview of Liu Xiaodong’s Hometown Memory, a series of 7 limited-edition lithographs, shown outside of China for the first time.

Liu Xiaodong’s Hometown Memory Series is the latest collaboration between UCCASTORE and the acclaimed Chinese painter. Past highlights include Bathed in Sunlight, a limited-edition lithograph, and Eat First, a collectible porcelain plate featuring a detail from a large painting of the same title. Liu Xiaodong’s Hometown Memory Series is one of his most personal works yet: each of the seven lithographs includes a black and white image from the artist’s personal photo album, as well as a sketch and inscription written in his own hand. The series was designed to complement Hometown Boy, Liu Xiaodong’s current solo exhibition at UCCA in Beijing. With only 10 editions produced worldwide, the new series offers excellent value for collectors.

At ART ASIA Miami, UCCASTORE also presents limited-edition works by artists Chen Qingqing (Fragrant Pillow, pillow of hemp fibers and other natural materials), Li Zhanyang (Hotpot, sculpture), Zhang Xiaogang (Big Family Portrait and 2007-Big Family Portrait, serigraphs), Yu Fan (Lounging Sailor and Silver-Maned Horse No. 5, sculptures), Peng Wei (Egrets Frolicking In a Pond Among Hibiscus, lithograph), Wang Guangyi (Great Criticism - Pepsi, lithograph), Ling Jian (Hero No. 2, lithograph), Yang Fudong (Ms. Huang at M Last Night, No. 2, photograph), Cui Xiuwen (One Day in 2004, photograph) and Yang Fan (Memory, a Ming Dynasty style chair in acrylic and metal.)

“This is our third time participating in ART ASIA Miami,” explains Ms. May Xue, Director of UCCASTORE, “and we have even more new and exciting things in store for collectors and visitors. We plan to highlight the growth of UCCA as an institution and give people the chance to feel the pulse of Chinese contemporary art by bringing them closer to the artwork and to the creative process of the artists.”

As China’s leading retailer of collector-quality, limited-edition artwork, UCCASTORE offers limited-edition works produced under exclusive license from the artists and subject to stringent quality standards and carefully-controlled edition size. Each work from a series is personally signed and numbered by the artist, professionally packaged or framed, and accompanied by an embossed certificate of authenticity. No other store or institution in China offers such a broad range of limited-edition lithography, photography, sculpture, ceramics and installation work by so many of the biggest names in Chinese contemporary art.

As part of UCCA’s ongoing effort to improve global understanding of Chinese art and to promote the work of Chinese artists and designers through practical methods, UCCASTORE participates in a broad range of international art markets, exhibitions and fairs, including the Hong Kong International Art Fair, the China International Gallery Exposition (CIGE) in Beijing, the Asian Contemporary Art Fair in New York, ARTSingapore and, of course, ART ASIA Miami.

ART ASIA Miami will run from December 1-5 in midtown Miami with a special grand opening (vernissage) on November 30th.
