MARSEILLE-PROVENCE 2013 : PICASSO - CERAMIST AND THE MEDITERRANEAN

AUBAGNE - CHAPELLE DES PENITENTS NOIRS

PICASSO AND CERAMICS

Curators : Joséphine Matamoros and Bruno Gaudichon

This exhibition will be held in the gallery created in the beautiful Chapelle des Pénitents Noirs. In the 1950s, Picasso explored Mediterranean civilisations using all kinds of media, including paintings, engravings, lithographs and ceramics. He put as much genius and energy into ceramics as he did into his sculptures and paintings. The exhibition will feature around 150 pieces that have never been shown together, and some that have never been shown at all.
