MARSEILLE-PROVENCE 2013 : FESTINS DE MÉDITERRANÉE

AUBAGNE, GARDANNE, ISTRES, PORT-DE-BOUC, SALON-DE-PROVENCE, ARLES ET SAINT-REMY-DE-PROVENCE

Mediterranean Banquets is a seven-chapter overview of culinary history in the Mediterranean. On the slopes of the Garlaban, the shores of a lake, the quays of a port, the banks of the Rhône or in the city centre, Mediterranean Banquets are an incredible chance to share an exceptional meal concocted by the region’s top chefs. In addition to 600 guests, local farmers, associations, residents, food lovers and schools will also be there to pick up a fork and join in the festivities. They are all experts in local culinary traditions, from products to classic recipes that have nearly been forgotten. Each banquet will have its own special theme, a featured product, a star recipe, a vision of the Mediterranean. Street food, workshops (tastings, wild plants, cuisine, gardening, recycling, wine, local products and more), discussions about today’s food habits, cocktail hours and Mediterranean concerts will add a little extra spice to the events.

Mediterranean Banquets is a collaborative event uniting the towns of Aubagne, Gardanne, Istres, Port-de-Bouc, Salon-de-Provence, Arles, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, as well as the Pays d’Aubagne et de l’Etoile, the Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays de Martigues, and the Communauté de Communes Vallée des Baux-Alpilles. It has been made possible thanks to the amazing individuals who created, produced, got involved and brought others on board (associations, etc.), and to all those who contributed their ideas and expertise to the event.

The picnic, which was originally planned for 25 May, has been postponed until 20 July because of bad weather.
