BLACKGROUND : MURMURES DES MORNES

CAPC - MUSÉE D'ART CONTEMPORAIN DE BORDEAUX

The Blackground : murmures des mornes project is part of the CAPC's historical reinterpretation of the Entrepôt Lainé, a building closely linked to colonial history that has housed the contemporary art museum since its creation.

Comprising several exhibition venues, at the CAPC and its partner institutions, this project aims to examine the colonial and slave-trading history of Bordeaux through a Francophone lens, focusing on issues beyond colonial slavery.

The aim is to bring this history and its echoes in our contemporary world to life with the help of artists, poets, and researchers whose main subjects fall within the field of what is known as “black studies,” which focuses in particular on the struggles and experiences of African people and the African diaspora.
